Support Services

More Than a Safety Net

Life can shift quickly. A lost ID can stall a job application. A missed bus can derail a medical appointment. A housing crisis can unravel months of progress. At Jubilee Kitchen, our support services exist to help guests navigate these challenges — not with judgment, but with practical help and genuine care.

Every person who walks through our doors carries a different story and a different set of needs. Our approach starts with listening. From there, we help connect guests to the resources, guidance, and support that can move them toward greater stability — one step at a time, at their own pace.

Social Services

Sometimes the biggest barriers are the most practical ones. An expired ID can prevent someone from accessing benefits, applying for work, or securing housing. A lack of transportation can make it impossible to keep an appointment. These are the kinds of obstacles that quietly hold people back — and they are exactly what our social services team helps with every day.

Our staff meets guests with compassion and without conditions. Whether someone needs help processing a crisis, obtaining a replacement ID, finding a ride to an appointment, or simply a stable mailing address, we are here.

  • Crisis counseling and emotional support
  • Assistance obtaining identification cards
  • Transportation support and coordination
  • Use of Jubilee Kitchen as a mailing address
  • Referrals and connections to community resources

Housing Support

A stable place to live changes everything. It is the foundation that makes employment possible, that allows children to stay in school, and that gives a person the breathing room to plan beyond tomorrow. At Jubilee Kitchen, we understand that housing is not just a logistical need — it is the cornerstone of long-term stability.

Through weekly onsite support from our Allegheny Link partner and ongoing collaboration with the Allegheny County Continuum of Care, landlords, and shelters, we help guests explore their options, understand what is available, and take concrete steps toward securing housing.

  • Weekly onsite Allegheny Link support
  • Connections to shelters and transitional housing
  • Collaboration with landlords and housing agencies
  • Homelessness prevention assistance — help with rent, mortgage, and utility payments
  • Guidance navigating housing applications and resources

Employment Support

Finding work is about more than filling out applications. It takes confidence, preparation, and often a support system that believes in you before you fully believe in yourself. Jubilee Kitchen’s employment services are built around that belief — that with the right encouragement and practical tools, guests can take meaningful steps toward economic independence.

Whether someone is reentering the workforce after a long absence, looking for their first opportunity, or trying to move into a more stable position, our staff walks alongside them through the process.

  • Resume writing and review
  • Interview preparation and coaching
  • Job search training and support
  • Connections to employment opportunities through partner organizations

A Path Forward

No single service changes a life on its own. But when a guest can resolve an ID issue on Monday, talk to a housing specialist on Wednesday, and work on a resume on Friday — all in the same building, with people who know their name — something shifts. The weight gets a little lighter. The path gets a little clearer.

That is what comprehensive support looks like at Jubilee Kitchen. Not a checklist of programs, but a network of people and services working together — adapting to where each guest is and helping them move toward where they want to be.

Help Build Pathways to Stability

When neighbors help neighbors, hope becomes contagious. Your support — whether through giving, volunteering, or simply spreading the word — helps us keep these services available to everyone who needs them.
